Congratulations to all our our Regional qualifiers this year, and thank you to all who came out in the rain to cheer us on! Sam Goldstein started the day off strong, with 2nd place and 4th place finishes in Open Flat and Fences. Becca Schwartz put in two solid rides for an 8th place finish in Novice Fences and a 4th place finish in Novice Flat. Tess Opferman and Kat Mallary had strong rides in the first two heats of the Walk/Trot/Canter division. Tess moved on to the final heat, and placed 2nd overall. Our two star Walk/Trot riders, Hannah Harris and Melanie Chen, ended the day with two great rides. Hannah placed 2nd and Melanie place 4th in the class. Open riders Sam Goldstein and Rae Oakley were 3rd and 7th place in Cacchione points, while the team finished the year as 5th place in the region overall. Sam, Tess, and Hannah were all reserve champion in their flat classes, and have qualified for Zone finals next weekend at Mount Holyoke!
Wellesley Equestrian finished off the spring semester strong, with three riders qualified for Regionals and an overall 5th place team finish in the region! Giovi Mier '16, Paulina Sterpe '15, and Callan Roberts '15 all had excellent rides. Paulina won first in Walk-Trot, and Callan won first and second in Intermediate Flat and Fences. Both moved onto Zone Finals! At Zones, Paulina won Reserve Champion in the Walk-Trot division and Callan won Champion and a 5th place in Intermediate Flat and Fences, respectively. WET couldn't have been more thrilled to go on to represent Wellesley at IHSA Nationals in Springfield, MA. Both Callan and Paulina rode well, with Callan earning a 7th place finish! Thank you to our dedicated team members who drove to the show to support our competing riders and our region, and to our fabulous riders. We wish our graduating seniors the best of luck going forward; we will miss you!
Our team finished the season strong on November 9th at the Boston College show, with first place finishes from Melanie Chen and Kat Mallary. Congratulations to all of our riders for their successes this show season! Thank you to the team, our friends, and our families for their dedication and support. We look forward to the spring show season!
WET started off the 2014-2015 season strong, winning High Point Team at the first show of the year, hosted by Brandeis. Callan Roberts had an especially successful day, winning both her intermediate flat and fences classes to become Reserve High Point Rider! Congratulations to everyone for their great rides, and for the team spirit and support showed by the entire team.
